The Office of the Privacy Commissioner is pleased to announce the return of the Privacy Forum in 2021.

This year's Privacy Forum comes at an opportune time. COVID-19 aside, it is the first such event since the Privacy Act 2020 took effect on 1 December 2020. The new Act has introduced a raft of changes to privacy law and information management in New Zealand. The Forum will highlight those changes as well as enforcement and compliance directions for our office.

An address by the Privacy Commissioner John Edwards will provide an overview of the first six months of the new Act. The Commissioner's presentation will be followed by a panel discussion about privacy in the rental sector.

Aspects of the impact of COVID-19 on privacy will be another key issue of the day with a video message by the Director General of Health, Dr Ashley Bloomfield. This will be followed by a panel discussion with Dr Andrew Chen, Dr Tahu Kukutai and Shayne Hunter from the Ministry of Health.

A welcome coffee or tea will be available at registration on the day, and a full morning tea will be provided.

The programme of the Privacy Forum is available here: https://privacy.org.nz/news/forums-and-seminars/privacy-week/

It's a good idea to get in fast! Our Privacy Week forums are always oversubscribed. The early bird registration price of $90 will apply only until 23 April 2021. After that date, full price is $120 per ticket.

Charitable trusts and NGOs can apply for a limited number of free entry spaces. If you think your organisation is eligible, email us at comms@privacy.org.nz.

The Privacy Forum is an integral part of our Privacy Week programme for 2021. Privacy Week will run from 10 - 14 May 2021. More information about Privacy Week can be found here: https://privacy.org.nz/news/forums-and-seminars/privacy-week/
